``Jiyu-Rassic`` Park?
In February our science theme was dinosaurs and fossils. As a class we learned about the different classifications of dinosaurs, what they might have ate, the different dinosaurs ages, as well as what caused the dinosaurs to ultimately become extinct. This naturally lead to the second half of our unit, where we learned how fossils are “made,” and how they inform so much of what we know today. We decided to make fossils using the “mold and cast” method where there is a print of an animal, bone or other artifact, then eventually it is filled with sediment (sand, clay, etc). The children had a lot of fun deciding on what prints they wanted, as well as cracking open the plaster to reveal our fossils!
