A friend is one of the best things you can be and the greatest things you can have. Sarah Valdez
This past week in K4 leading up to Friendship Day we discussed what it means to be not only a friend, but to be a kind friend. We talked in class about the things we can do to actively be kind to one another, such as; listen, apologize, encourage, use kind words, take turns, and so on.
After learning about these kind attributes we also did activities to help us differentiate between kind and unkind actions. For example, how helping others can be kind while yelling at our friends can be unkind and a bit scary.
To tie everything all together the crafts throughout the week were friendship themed as well, such as making a ‘friendship garden’ because each member brings individual vibrance that together makes the whole classroom shine. To, matching friendship bracelets that we could all wear together to celebrate our classroom camaraderie!
