Getting Ready for the Spookiest Day of the Year

A reader lives a thousand lives. George R.R.Martin

In preparation for Halloween, Grade 3 students have been making a variety of Halloween decorations; some practical and some decorative ones. This year’s students are avid readers, and they devour books any chance they get so, it is fitting that they make a craft to match their reading habits! The students made some simple, spooky and scary bookmarks. In order to get ready for trick-or-treating, they also made Halloween bags for all the treats they will get.

Another important order of business? Learning about the history of Halloween, how this fun holiday was born and how it got its name.

How did Halloween gets its name? Why did people start celebrating this date? Ask a Grade 3 students and they will be happy to tell you…but only if you give them enough candy!
