In April, fables were on the menu for the fifth graders. The students, who were already familiar with some of Aesop’s work like The Tortoise and the Hare and The Lion and the Mouse, read quite a few fables in order to understand what makes a fable a fable. They also spent a few hours discussing the concept of morality in class. They were then given a series of steps they had to follow in order to write their own fables. Here are some of the stories they wrote.
